Green Think #52 – Dancing our Way to Heal Relationships

How would our relationships change if we took out the verbal communication, and related to our partners by dancing to deep African rhythms with Latin overtones as a way to communicate? Wow…just imagine that!

On this Green Think podcast, international artists Jean-Pierre Simons and Bianca Blesching explore just that with Coach Betty…how dancing can strengthen our relationships.

Listen to their fascinating work and story…

Jean-Pierre Simons and Bianca Blesching

Jean-Pierre Simons and Bianca Blesching

Jean-Pierre Sighé of West Central Africa’s Cameroon nation grew up in a cultural environment where dancing was part of normal living. Equipped with his African dancing background, he later discovered the Latin dances and immediately felt their appeal…particularly Argentine Tango.

His motivation for teaching Tango derives from his desire to share with others the beauty of this wonderful gift to the world from the Argentinean people. He does not want to simply teach a set of steps following some futile pattern. Jean-Pierre desires to faithfully transmit to others what he has had the privilege to receive directly from the Tango Masters – the spirit of Tango.

Bianca Blesching grew up in rural Germany. As a child, her inner appeal for dancing grew strong leading her to seek formal training in Hamburg, and a degree as a Certified Modern Dance Instructor and Choreographer with a focus on Improvisation.

Bianca followed her passion for dancing into Latin styles as she studied then taught Salsa. A logical progression in her exploration took her to the Tango world where she found roots.

Bianca is an instinctive dancer who is familiar with the rhythmic language as applied in African dancing. She enjoys the code of “call-response”, which plays a major role in improvisational exchanges between dancing partners.

Green Think #50 – The Health and YUM of a Gluten Free Diet

My special guest on this podcast is Beth Hillson, the Founder of Gluten Free Pantry. She shares how she was inspired to create these yummy foods without gluten so that those with Celiac Disease and other health conditions sensitive to gluten can enjoy good quality breads and pie crusts. Eliminating gluten has helped reduce my joint pain from Rheumatoid Arthritis also. And, I was not a pie eater until I had her “Perfect Pie Crust!” Listen in…

Beth Hillson

Beth Hillson

Beth Hillson was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 1954 and again in 1976. Beth had been a so-called “Banana Baby,” thought to outgrow the disease after a few years on a very restricted diet (mainly bananas). We now know that patients do no outgrow Celiac Disease.

She was re-diagnosed while living in Europe and attending culinary school so she could learn to eat defensively. In the process of learning the intricacies of preparing fine foods so she could ask the right questions in restaurants, she discovered she could create the same dishes at home by substituting gluten-free flous and without sacrificing taste and texture.

She serves as the president of the American Celiac Disease Alliance, and is the food editor and writer for “Living Without Magazine,” a lifestyle publication for people on special diets.

Green Think #47 – The Natural Healing of Sex

After great reflection from last year’s Green Think Radio Shows, it was stunning how guest after guest, book after book, article after article showed that repairing our relationships and saving the planet begins with self-love. My mission is to help us find our greatest love of all in 2010 – SELF LOVE!

My approach to healing involves using what we have available. I will continue to explore the research on the healing powers of our own bodies, including sex…it lives within us. Check out interviews, WOA Babies (news sounds bites), and Views You Can Use Segments from 2009 and you will hear a strong argument for the healing powers of sex. We even have scientific evidence that a healthy sex life is good for our hearts and immune systems. Pleasurable and loving sex shows protection against cancers, and lower rates of depression.

So then…it is a WOA BABY that…

Thirty-two percent of women and 15% of men lacked sexual interest for several months within the last year.” (Laumann EO, Paik A. Rosen RC. Sexual dysfunction in the United States: Prevalene and Predictors. JAMA 1999;281:537-544).

All that healing power going to waste…

Listen to this two minute WOA Baby, and let Coach Betty inspire you to have “More HEALTHY Sex” in 2010 for the sake of bringing more self-love to the planet. How about THAT? :)

Instead of the radio show, these interviews will be posted as podcasts each week.

The Green Think Radio year in review found guest after guest pointing towards self-love as the path to caring for our relationships and our planet. My project in 2010 is to travel to Europe and beyond discovering expansive views and concepts of healing and helping you bring your life into an exquisite balance with nature.
